Tiia-Riikka joined Laine IP in March 2021. She works on the chemistry team as a patent agent trainee, dealing mostly with inventions in the chemistry field.
After her doctoral studies, Tiia-Riikka worked as a researcher at the Max Planck institute in Germany and at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, which is located at the Technical university of Denmark (DTU). In addition, she has worked as a researcher in a startup setting studying prevention of gastrointestinal diseases. Tiia-Riikka’s research career has focused on protein chemistry and she has worked for example in projects focusing on biosynthesis of antibiotics, use of antibodies and modification of natural products. Before moving abroad, she has worked as a research assistant at the Wihuri Institute and at the University of Helsinki in the faculty of pharmacy.
Tiia-Riikka holds a master’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Helsinki and a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where she worked at the Max Planck Institute within protein chemistry.
