Protect before you pitch

In order to reduce last-minute rush, we have launched a new IP Event Package, designed to identify and address any IP issues before your event. Check it out!

It’s finally here: the big event your team has been preparing for. The deck is ready, the presentation has been fine-tuned, and the demo is fully operational. But what about your IP?

Events are about communication, but not every disclosure is harmless. Public disclosure can narrow or eliminate important protection options, particularly patent rights. A careful advance review can help in preserving your rights and options downstream.

At Laine, we’ve done our fair share of filings the night before an event. To reduce last-minute rush, we now offer a focused IP Event Package designed to identify and address any IP issues before your event.

First, we map out, in a structured discussion, what exactly you plan to disclose at the event. We then assess the situation and prepare a protection plan for your approval. While the final plan implementation depends on the agreed scope, the plan might include filings, documentation, changes to event materials, or guidance for discussions at the event.

We know that you do not want a series of meetings in the run-up to your event. We therefore structure the work around a single workshop and then work independently on your behalf. The scope will be adapted to your situation. We can review a single presentation or demonstration, coordinate a broader protection plan, or step in when your needs are urgent.

We’ll also cover discussions at the stand or with potential partners or investors. All team members should know when to say “Sorry, that’s confidential” when appropriate. As a result, you have a clear plan for event disclosures and protection measures in place, as well as practical guidance for discussing your business at the event.

It is best to start around two months before the event. However, Laine IP is happy to help whenever you require assistance in IP matters, urgently or otherwise. Happy pitching!

The IP Event Package is offered for a fixed fee. Any filing work, official fees and third-party costs shall be quoted and invoiced separately. Contact Laine personnel to receive a quote.
